FEBRUARY 12TH 2011 @ FRED WILDLIFE REFUGE
Shameless is proud to present the
8TH ANNUAL MY BLOODY VALENTINE IS SHAMELESS!
Heartbreaker's Hall
Santiago & Bushido (PottyMouth, Cajual Records -CHI)

Amidst the countless DJ’s and producers working in the burgeoning Chicago house scene, Santiago and Bushido stand apart from the rest with their unique blend of tech-tinged house beats and killer remixes that are becoming quite the sought-after commodity. Since teaming up as a production duo in 2003, Chris Santiago and Tim Bush have dropped numerous EP’s and remixes on some of the most well respected labels around including Potty Mouth, Om, Ultra, and have generated a significant following in the process. Their unique sound and flawless DJ sets have helped to establish Santiago & Bushido as one of the premier acts in dance music today.
Their track ‘Head Trick’ was one of the true dance anthems of 2008, a major crossover success receiving play and charting from many of the globe’s top DJ’s such as Moby, DJ Tiesto, Switch, Armin Van Buren, and Diplo. Head Trick was the 1 most downloaded song in January 2008, and the 8 most downloaded of the entire year on Beatport.com, the world’s top online site for electronic music. Santiago & Bushido followed the success of Head Trick with a number of critically acclaimed releases and remixes including a massive remix of Kaskade’s Billboard 1 hit single Move For Me, a reworking of Larry Tee’s Louis Vuitton, and their original single Can’t Be Wrong which has been licensed to numerous complications such as Ministry of Sound. In addition to belting out club tracks Santiago and Bushido have worked with Om recording artist Colette on her artist album “Push” for which they wrote and produced multiple songs including the album’s single, “If,” which was licensed for an episode of Real World for “MTV” and can also be purchased as a ring tone from Verizon.
Having been intimately involved with music his entire, life Bushido picked up his first pair of turntables and sampler on his 16th birthday and immediately went to work mixing, sampling, and cutting up any piece of vinyl he could get his hands on. His carefully crafted DJ sets caught the ears of some of Chicago’s nightlife elite and he soon found himself playing all over the city. Tim spent his days working at Chicago Recording Company, sharing the same recording space with the likes of R.Kelly and Smashing Pumpkins among others. By working alongside some of Chicago’s most well respected engineers at CRC, Bushido honed his engineering and production prowess until opportunity knocked.
While Bushido was mastering his craft, Santiago was working his way up the Chicago’s nightlife hierarchy. Within one year of playing live gigs, he secured a Friday night residency at Zentra Nightclub’s House Arrest, and within a year he would be playing to Chicago’s most musically educated and up-for-it partiers as an exclusive resident at “World’s Best Dance Club”, Smartbar, joining the halls of dance icons that have enjoyed similar slots there (including other current residents Kaskade and Justin Long).
As DJ’s, Santiago & Bushido draw influence from their Chicago house background and apply harder and heavier elements to their sound. Santiago & Bushido are regularly headlining and appearing at some of the best parties in the US and beyond including Avalon in LA, Decibel Festival in Seattle, and Bed in Miami. Recent shows have them playing along side some of the hottest talent around today such as Deadmau5, Crookers, and Kaskade. Their 2009 dates include a multi-city tour in Australia, multiple trips to Europe, and regular gigs in North America.

MBViS Promo Video
Friday, February 12th at Chop Suey
The Birthday Party where Valentine's Day meets Halloween
Have we really been at this for 7 years?! Hard to believe that an extra-curricular activity started back in 2003 has become a fully functioned production/promotion/performance collective with an eye for emerging electronic music and arts. This year's celebration features DRUMCELL (LA), J.PHLIP (SF), 214 (SEA) and sets by all of the Shameless residents, RECESS (SEA), MENAMI (SEA), JEN WOOLFE (SF), ROBB GREEN (SF), LEVI CLARK (SEA), ADLIB (SEA) and Shameless' own MC ANTON BOMB (SEA). Heart-shaped pinata smashing at midnight, dress to express!
In the spirit of Shameless' mantra (that is, "keeping it weird"), Joe B and Miles bring it beautifully over the top with this promo video.

Disko Casse showcase @ Decibel Festival featured artist: BRODINSKI
One question I kept asking myself as I listened to Brodinski’s cosmically funky tracks and transcendental DJ mixes: is he really from this world?!
In just two short years, Brodinski has risen to explosive heights so quickly and emphatically. The high quality of his productions and the intensity of his DJ sets have rocked audiences and won universal respect among peers and DJs around the world.
Shameless is very proud to help bring Brodinski to Seattle this Saturday as headliner of our Disko Casse showcase at Chop Suey, as part of the 2009 Decibel Festival in Seattle.
While primarily affiliated with the mighty Boyz Noize and Turbo Recordings, Brodinski has released tracks on other venerable labels such as Fool’s Gold, Kitsune, and Ed Banger since 2007. His debut track Bad Runner was a sensation on many respected music blogs in late 2007, which began the proverbial ball rolling of support from world-renowned DJs and artists such as Soulwax, Switch, and Erol Alkan. Brodinski has also remixed tracks from Bonde de Role, Klaxons, and Adam Sky.
Brodinski’s original productions lean forward to the future without sacrificing visceral, sensual rhythm patterns familiar to all. This approach is best demonstrated in his collaboration with Noob on the recently released track on Turbo Recordings: “Peanuts Club”. Here, the track begins with a driving, bass drum-heavy tribal beat generously drenched in dark yet sexy techno influences. Syncopated basslines, bells, exhaust leaks, and otherworldly industrial loops create an irresistible environment where momentum naturally ebbs and flows – and always satisfies.
Brodinski – Peanuts Club (Original Mix) - zShare
He also demonstrates a flair for dramatic tension on last year’s epic track “Oblivion,” which out of the gate thumps you over with in-your-face snares and kick drums – and eerie, extraterrestrial sounds from every direction. Wear headphones and turn up the bass during a listen of “Oblivion” and by the end of the track, you’ll be completely (and happily) convinced that you’ve had some kind of close encounter.
Brodinski – Oblivion (Noob Remix) – zShare
Both tracks are available for high-quality purchase via Beatport - get them immediately.
Brodinski’s DJ skills are equally impressive, as his track selections in the mix reflect the balance he achieves in his production between earthly rhythmic delights and what the future might have in store.
Brodinski – Smokemashine I (mix)
1. Mihalis Safras - Interafrica
2. Stimming - Short Story
3. Unknown - Se Saber (johnny D Rmx)
4. Daniel Melhlart - Fata Morgana
5. Ilario Naples - Play The Music (Pierce Rmx)
6. Ryan Crosson - Confiteria Del Molino
7. Heinrichs & Hirtenfellner - Tromp It
8. Ilario Alicante - Living Near Africa
9. Roman IV - As Time Goes Bye Bye
10. Mokkasin - Helazerhead (Basti Grub Rmx)
11. The Viewers - Streethorn (Ben Watt Rmx)
The dude’s got tons o’ energy, too! Here are a couple examples:
Here’s a dizzying glimpse into a Brodinski set in Los Angeles, where everyone’s clearly losing their minds:
Needless to say, expect more of the same at Disko Casse this Saturday at Chop Suey!

Time to Go Balls Out
by Donte Parks
With all of the hassle from The Man, it's getting increasingly harder to have fun on the Hill. But until we can elect a more nightlife-supportive administration, we're forced to work around the limitations it presents. Shameless has found a solution that requires neither trekking across the city nor partying in some shady space. Instead, Shameless's newest monthly venture (with the Naha Army) aspires to be a balls-out party, appropriately titled Balls Out, and it's found the right venue for that to occur without any hassles.
"It feels like we're in the movie Footloose," says Shameless's DJ Recess about the current nightlife environment, which has recently seen both Neumo's and Chop Suey under constant scrutiny from law enforcement and liquor control. Shameless's Menami adds, "No one wants to come to a party with cops outside. We're not the only promoters that have had to deal with the draconian noise situation."
To combat that concern, Shameless is throwing Balls Out at Re-bar. Host to Shameless's My Bloody Valentine parties, Re-bar has remained off law enforcement's radar, due in large part to its relatively isolated location. "Re-bar's always been a red-headed stepchild [of a club], but now we can use that to our advantage," says Menami.
Shameless is bringing in more than just a truckload of extra sound for the night. Fourthcity's Kinoko will be curating live art performances for the event, and there's going to be a "hipster dunk tank." Don't worry, it's all in good fun. "It's not about making fun of hipsters; it's about making fun of ourselves. What does 'hipster' even mean these days?" says Recess. For the inauguration of the night, ex-hardcore DJ AC Slater is flying in; he's a rave favorite who's successfully transitioned to more contemporary bassline and electro, a favorite of the Palms Out Sounds blog.
Shameless promoters are optimistic that they'll be able to keep having events on the Hill, like Broken Disco, the collaborative monthly they helped throw at the troubled Chop Suey. "We really want to come back strong with Broken Disco, but in the meantime, we're going to see what we can get away with at Balls Out."

Broken Disco - One Year Anniversary Party!
Also, check out this write up in The Stranger...
Broken Disco Celebrates a Birthday
That must be quite the comfortable rock you've been living under if you've somehow managed to remain ignorant of Broken Disco. In a short 12 months, the night has grown from an ambitious concept to a fixture in Seattle's nightlife, placing a consistent spotlight on local talent while hosting a diverse range of headliners.
The Voltron-esque club night combines the promotional efforts of Decibel, Sensory Effect, Shameless, and Fourthcity—transforming Chop Suey into a destination on second Fridays. Instead of the usual lineup nitpicking, Broken Disco has established itself as a trusted brand, inspiring attendance even with artists who aren't household names, quite the feat with Seattle's fickle audiences.
For Broken Disco's anniversary, the promoters have opted for an all-out party assault, guaranteeing both a sweaty ceiling and noise complaints from Chop Suey's pesky neighbors. They're going big, bringing in a slew of out of towners instead of the usual single headliner, representing a pretty wide swath of the all-inclusive Broken Disco sound. Topping the bill is Tittsworth, the D.C.-area DJ who drops a heavy dose of Baltimore club in his catch-all party-jam sets. Former Laptop Battle champion Starkey comes from Philly, roughed-up beats in tow. Portland's Copy will illustrate the unironic usage of keytar, while Kansas City duo Tactic will kick things off with a set heavy on their own bouncy remixes.

The 5th Annual...
'My Bloody Valentine is Shameless' party
Friday February 1st
The trouble started back in February of 2004 when Shameless hosted its Saturday night weekly at the Alibi Room. Rather than fall victim to the annual Hallmark holiday the crew turned Valentine's Day upside down by literally wearing their heart on their sleeve. Costumes were encouraged, make-up was generously applied and a raucous anti-Valentine's Day party has ensued each February since. This year the 5th annual 'My Bloody Valentine is Shameless' grows in size and yet remains underground. The two room, all night party takes place under Interstate 5 at Hengst Studios. With Brooklyn's Trouble & Bass crew mates flying into Seattle for an exclusive appearance, a star studded local DJ line-up and a fashion show by Hot Shit Design, the cold month of February will heat up for this one night.
Passions (Trouble & Bass, Kitsune) returns to Seattle with a live set after his smashing debut at Broken Disco last year. Star Eyes (Trouble & Bass, XLR8R) joins him, returning to the west coast where she started DJing over 15 years ago. She regularly played with local veterans Eva & Naha who are also on the bill. Add to the mix a live breaks set by Novatron & Shapeshifter plus DJ sets by members of Shameless, Club Pop, Innerflight, Naha Army and Fourthcity and you have yourself an underground party that will be talked about for months.
However, with all of the great music lined up, the 5th annual event is more about people getting dressed up for 'Halloween in February' and taking a 'tongue in cheek' attitude towards the mid month holiday. To assist there will be a beautification/gorification station on hand to help everyone get festive. Hot Shit Design will be presenting a fashion show early on and there are rumors of another heart shaped pinata being present again this year. Watch out for hipsters, sex toys, old school heads, singles, sheep, ravers, heavy bass, lovers, burners, and goths...
See you on February 1st!!

PASSIONS Live! (NYC) [Trouble & Bass, Kitsune]
Passions was formed in the summer of 2006 by Ben Deitz after attending a rave in Berlin. While Ben is the only band member who will reveal his name and face, each member of Passions brings a unique history to the band; from Deitz's being mentored by a former member of Snap in high school, to another band mate's experiences in the the early 80's LA punk scene and with Chaos Magick. All of Passions however, share a love of dance music, from 90's hardcore, to electro-house, to grime and anything in between. Recently, all of these styles came together on Kitsune's 2007 release entitled "Emergency". Some know Ben as Mathhead. Others know him as Passions. For this year's Shameless party, Passions will deliver a specially crafted live set. Those that caught him performing at Broken Disco II for his Seattle debut know there will be equal parts disco, grime & bass.

Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto, Oakenfold, Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, James Zabiela, Satoshi Tomeii, Adam Freeland, Hybrid and Sander Kleinenberg to name but a few. Her forward-thinking approach, superb A&R sensibility, and cutting-edge style has captured the attention of everyone from Pete Tong, and Felix Da Housecat to James Lavelle. It was Lavelle who gave Eva her first big break, an invitation to play at arguably the best club in the world, Fabric in the UK. NAHA - DJ
It's been a long time since NAHA's original crew TRUSKOOL started bringing hardcore legends to Seattle and since then she has carried the flag for hardcore and breakcore in the NW. Add the elements of rap, grime, punk, ragga, and electro and you've got an amalgamation of sounds that has inspired an army. If you like rough and rugged tracks and bass-heavy mash-ups, then pull up those boot straps and grab your helmet because its time to get RAW.

RECESS - DJ Set (Shameless, Broken Disco)
Raised on the industrial, new wave, and pop music of the time, in the late 80's Recess found his second home at the now defunct Club Underground in Seattle's University District. Using these early experiences as a platform, he started collecting records and honing his skills at various clubs around the Northwest; quickly establishing himself as a formidable performer. Recess is the main force behind local collective Shameless (responsible for Broken Disco, Electric Avenue, BootyLIB, the Official Decibel Festival afterparties and numerous other local one offs with artists such as Modeselektor, Drop the Lime, Egyptian Lover, Godfather & Tittsworth) and he continues to turn heads with his unique take on dance music. He's played alongside heavy hitters such as Modeselektor, Green Velvet, Felix Da Housecat, Damian Lazarus, MSTRKRFT, John Tejada, DJ Assault, Ewan Pearson, Smash TV and could quite easily be caught playing electro/discopunk at one club, baile funk/bmore club/ghetto tech at another, or techno/house depending upon the crowd and party. His versatility has led to being nominated in 2006 for the Seattle Weekly's Best Local DJ. Whether it's an afterhours loft space, major club, mountaintop, or random BASSment; Recess consistently brings the sounds and energy to fit any dance party.

NOVATRON W/ SHAPESHIFTER - Live
A man of peace, a man of truth and a man of some serious fucking wicked voodoo science. Nova blazes on-- from dusty border towns to urban Utopia. Using/abusing the Korg Electribe line of outboard modules, our man brings the electro-breaks solid and deep. His sound is thick and highly danceable. Every performance is an improvised mixture of beats and bass; keeping the flow interesting as well as making the heads happy while they dance. This is not music for sitting back and scratching your chin. It is the dance floor that Nova has engaged and his audience makes it clear that they are grateful for the favor.
Of special note: DJ Shapeshifter will be performing with Nova on the scratch mix, so be ready for dance floor mayhem!!!

Levi's musical background started at an early age and varies among rock, electronica, hip hop, classical, blues and jazz. This up and coming DJ began performing music while still in his early teens. Only having recently begun to perfect his skills behind the decks, Levi Clark has already shared the stage with headliners such as Superstar Keoki, John B & the Institubes crew. Today's focus is trained on electro oriented beats while also diving into breaks and techno. Levi Clark is passionate for all music that is "dirty" and makes people want to dance.

She enjoys and collects techno, electro, bass music, tech-house, ghetto tech, dirty club and party music as well as dreamy, domestic downtempo.

Going on 4 years behind the decks, M'Chateau's choice in style is stirred with allegiance for Detroit and Germany and unconditional love for Latin and Brazillian music. His sets will please even the most jaded electro-naut.
